Mental health

Everyone needs help sometimes.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re young or old. And even the people who look like they have it all together need a hand every now and again — it’s just part of being human. We all need to take steps every day to look after our mental health and wellbeing. And it’s always okay to reach out if you need support navigating the ups and downs of life.

Let’s have this convo, together.

Mental health support services

There are free, confidential specialised youth support services you can access by yourself whenever you want to have a chat, or find out more information. No judgement, no expectations — just support.

These services won’t share your information without your consent unless they are concerned you or someone else is at risk of serious harm.

If you feel you can, it can help to involve your parent or guardian in your mental health journey. This can give you support and let them know how best to be there for you. Mental health services can help you to have this conversation together.

Kids Helpline

Get in touch with Kids Helpline anytime of the day or night on 1800 55 1800.

You can also chat one-on-one to a counsellor 24/7, or find information and support online.

Headspace

Visit the Headspace website to join group chats or talk to a qualified professional online.

Or you can find a Headspace centre near you to visit in person.

Check in with your friends

Sometimes we notice our friends aren’t themselves. Perhaps they’re acting differently to usual, or don’t seem to be feeling their best.

It can help to have a chat together. You can recommend they connect with Kids Helpline or Headspace — or you can even use these services yourself to support you to reach out to your friend.
