There is a fundamental truth to the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”. Every person has a responsibility to help Queensland children thrive and reach their full potential.
We know the child and family support sector is a critical part of this village.
Much work has been done since the Commission of Inquiry reforms commenced in July 2014 to build a new child protection and family support system for Queensland.
It’s required a significant cultural change in the way professionals, service providers and communities interact with families, and each other, to keep children safe and well.
We want the Queensland’s child and family support system to be the best it can be. We’re helping to build a stronger system by:
- growing and developing the organisations delivering services and the people they employ
- creating a positive professional culture in which we can all work together
- improving cultural capability and working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities
- advocating for the wellbeing of children and families across Queensland
- working with the sector so we’re better informed about the big issues and what needs changing in the child protection system
- using our knowledge and influence to bring positive change to legislative reviews
- supporting continuous improvement by working with the sector in all of our oversight, evaluation, and research activities.
